In 1 Corinthians 6 Paul argues against the misguided notion that Christians can do what they want with their bodies since they have the Holy Spirit. This error, Paul says, misunderstands the meaning of the resurrection of Jesus: since Jesus' body rose from the dead God means our bodies to rise from the dead too; any attempts to achieve a resurrection-like experience outside of the Gospel then are inherently idolatrous. But in Jesus we have finally been freed to know the deepest pleasure and satisfaction of infinite intimacy with the Trinity. Sex then becomes a way not to be enslaved but to experience the Gospel with our spouse.
