In the reading from Deuteronomy, we focus on the 3rd Commandment: "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it Holy."
This commandment emphasizes taking a day to rest and dedicate to God, avoiding work and secular activities. It serves as a reminder of God's deliverance from slavery, paralleling our deliverance from sin through Christ.
Jesus reiterates this in John 14, where He links loving Him to keeping His commandments, not as a burden but as a response to the salvation we have already received.
Readings and sermon were delivered by Pastor Matt Meyer.

Youth Deacon: Stacey Staake
The St. James Youth Team, under the leadership of Stacey Staake, is a dedicated team that meets weekly, on Wednesday evenings with all junior and senior high students. Through engaging Bible studies, activities and events, the team provides a supportive community for young believers.
Highlights include an impactful annual mission trip and participation in the triannual LCMS Youth Gathering, both of which offer unique opportunities for service, witnessing, spiritual growth and fellowship. Committed to living for Christ in today’s world, the St. James Youth Team empowers its members to deepen their faith and make a positive difference in their communities.
This team is very active and in GREAT need of adults to assist with weekly meetings. Please prayerfully consider how you might help in this way. Whether it’s for one Wednesday a month, or more, you can help us to continue and grow this ministry! Contact Stacey Staake at stacey@stjamesglencarbon.org, or the church office for more information.
