When Jesus' disciples ask him what sins caused a particular man to be born blind, Jesus shockingly says it happened not because of sin but because God wanted an opportunity to glorify himself. After Jesus heals him, the contest between the man, his family, the religious establishment, and Jesus begins to see who is going to get that glory. In the end, Jesus insists that it belongs to his father, but that his judgment of the seeing and the blind is the avenue by which that glory will be revealed.
