The beginning of advent marks the turning over of the Christian calendar, a calendar which – like all calendars – gives order and meaning to our actions. Specifically, the first coming and second coming of Jesus – which Advent celebrates – means that God has established the new creation. As a result, Christians obey God's law not as an attempt to gain his favor, but as a lived out faith that the Christian church now exists as a new creation colony in the current old order.

Readings and sermon were delivered by Pastor Aaron Mueller.

Ministry Spotlight – Madison County Schools Ministry
CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS!

We are honored to serve 31 children in our area schools for Christmas. Each child is signed up for an outfit and toy/item. The list is available on Sign-up Genius. Please join us in providing a wonderful Christmas for these children! All items should be delivered to the collection box at the top of the stairwell at St. James by Sunday, December 11 th wrapped and with a gift tag showing the child’s name, age, and sex.

If you would like to help sort and deliver gifts to the schools, or for more information about this ministry, please check out our website or contact Sandy Hall, Deaconess, Madison County Schools Ministry at sandy@stjamesglencarbon.org or contact the church office.

Christmas Caroling
  • Next Sunday, December 4th 3:45 PM – 5:30 PM: This is a great way to warm hearts and bring smiles during Advent! Meet at the church at 3:45 PM. We will be going to Meridian Village and Stillwater Senior Living Center. Please bring a mask. Contact Pam Meister or the church office for more information.
  • December 16th 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM: Youth Group Caroling followed by hot chocolate, cookies and a movie at the church.
  • December 17th 5:30 PM & 7:00 PM: Calling all Carolers! St. James will be providing carolers at the Yanda Cabin and we need you! We will provide two ‘performances.’ The first will be at 5:30 PM and the second at 7:00 PM. We will wear caroling costumes (i.e. top hat, cape, long skirts) if possible. If you don’t have a costume, please don’t let that stop you from joining us. Let Debbie Rathert know if you would like to join in the fun.
Congregational Meeting

We will have a congregational voter’s meeting in the church sanctuary on December 11th at 11:30 AM. We will address the following:

  • 2023 Budget — drafts may be found in the narthex or may be requested from the church office.
  • 2023 Elders and Deacons
