When Jesus, just 40 days after his birth, was brought to the temple in Jerusalem for dedication, his devout parents were simply doing what was required for all first born sons, according to the Law given by God to Moses.
However, the events at the temple that day were certainly not usual occurrences. A righteous man named Simeon, who was waiting for the coming Messiah, declared by the Holy Spirit that this Jesus was the one who would bring salvation. He also foresaw Jesus’ suffering, and the pain it would cause his mother Mary.
Because Jesus fulfilled the law perfectly in our place, which we could not accomplish, and then died and rose again from the grave, we who are united with him in baptism, have also been dedicated to the Lord.

- Altar Guild – Ministry Spotlight
-
The Altar Guild’s work goes beyond just making the church look beautiful—it’s a vital part of making sure everything runs smoothly during our worship services. One of their main tasks is preparing the communion trays with care and reverence. The Guild also takes on decorating the narthex and church entrance, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who walks through the door. Their decorations help reflect the spirit of our St. James community and add to the overall worship experience. They also play a big role in preparing for special ceremonies, making sure the space is just right for the occasion. Questions about Altar Guild?
