The main redemptive event of the Old Testament is the story of the Exodus, and when Jesus goes to Jerusalem to take over the kingdom of the world by dying and rising from the dead he intentionally does so on Passover – the Jewish celebration of the Exodus event. And by doing so Jesus brings to completion the great biblical story of release from slavery, vindication of God's glory, destruction of His enemies, and universal forgiveness of sins.
