For the past several centuries Christians in the West have embraced the belief that the destiny of Christians is to “go to heaven when we die.” But according to Paul, the story of salvation that God is writing in history does not end with believers living in a disembodied heaven forever but with the renewal of all of creation, including the restoration of our bodies and the setting up of a universal kingdom of righteousness and peace here on his renewed earth.
