How to Handle Trauma (Esther 4) – Third Sunday after the Epiphany
God's people are horribly victimized by an oppressive, evil overlord, but they learn to grapple with the horror of their situation through corporate repentance, faith in God's sovereign love, and leaning on the future advocate, Jesus, who will represent them and successfully defend them against their enemies.
Readings and sermon were delivered by Pastor Aaron Mueller.
Power to the Powerless (Esther 2-3) – Second Sunday after the Epiphany
God loves to write narratives like the stories of Joseph, and Daniel, and Esther in which his people are powerless and oppressed, but also in which he takes the power from those who have it and gives it to his helpless, oppressed people in order that they might serve and love their enemies, growing God's kingdom.
Readings and sermon were delivered by Pastor Aaron Mueller.
Resurrection, Now and Forever – The Baptism of our Lord
Jesus died and rose from the dead so that all who belong to him can be raised to life now, spiritually, and raised to life in the new creation, physically.
Readings and sermon were delivered by Pastor Aaron Mueller.
God’s Stealth Sovereignty (Esther 1) – Second Sunday after Christmas
We now live in a post-Christian world that has rejected God, and it seems sometimes that he – if he exists – has done nothing to defend himself or his people. Esther lived in a similar world, and the book of Esther is the perfect antidote for those who believe that the apparent silence of God means that he doesn't care or won't act.
Readings and sermon were delivered by Pastor Aaron Mueller.
What the Incarnation Means for Us – First Sunday after Christmas
Jesus took on our flesh, to transform us. The humanity of God means that now we can love with the love of Jesus, we can experience and share the peace of Jesus, and we can hear and speak the word of Jesus. But this new reality is only possible because, most importantly, we now bear the name of Jesus.
Readings and sermon were delivered by Pastor Aaron Mueller.
Seeing the Invisible God – Christmas Day
The Bible tells us that we can't see God because he's invisible, and even if we were physically able to see him his holiness would consume us in our sinfulness. But Scripture also says that without seeing God we are doomed. How does God solve this dilemma? He becomes visible and accessible to us by becoming a human like us, in the person of Jesus of Nazareth.
